Urban Eyes – A proposal for a public event viewing device which capitalizes on media technology to expand the public space of the street up into the public space above the street and allow access to upper level views of events. Taking advantage of the carnival-like atmosphere that forms on the sidewalk during festivals and other public events, this project is inspired by carnival rides and trucks, which can easily move in and out of events carrying on them all the technology necessary for the public gathering to reach up and view back down.
The Trucks are outfitted with state of the art radio controlled surveillance equipment, which can be controlled by an individual on the street level. Each Urban Eye, then transmits its signal to the large LED displays mounted on the side of the vehicle, thereby allowing not only the person controlling the camera to view the action, but everyone gathered around the vehicle.
